FUE stands for Follicle Unit Extraction. In this process hair follicles are extracted from the back of the scalp individually from permanent zone. It has got numerous advantages over FUT (Follicular Unit Transplantation).
FUE has undergone a huge transformation from the days it was first presented as a possible addition to strip surgery(FUT) almost ten years ago. Gone are the days when the procedure was deemed unpredictable and not cost effective as there was a lot of wastage of grafts and the outcomes were very poor.
Over the past 6-7 years, FUE has received more acceptance and in one of the recent ISHRS surveys, it was confirmed that the demand for FUE was far outstripping supply and that more and more surgeons and patients have accepted the fact that FUE, when performed by a reputable and experienced surgeon, can yield exceptional results with minimal discomfort and downtime.
Dr Reddy has added his own improvements to the technique and this has led to the evolution of the third generation FUE Hair Transplant ( 3G FUE). He is at the forefront of improving technology and is one of the few surgeons that has received glowing references and recommendations on some of the patient lead hair restoration forums including:
Dr Reddy is renowned worldwide for his patient centred approach and he has trained a lot of doctors in his 3G FUE technique.
"Thank you for all your help and expertise. I am back in Durban South Africa. I had a good flight with a few close calls with the elderly doing their best to displace my grafts with their hand luggage. Been resting at home today. Still continuing with the saline spray every 30 minutes. I’ve now completed the 5 days of antibiotics and medrone with no sign of any infection and no sign of swelling or bruising. I’ve washed the donor area today with baby shampoo and there was no pain. Tomorrow is dayNishen in UK
"Just to let you know, what a transformation I've seen in only 4 weeks, can hardly believe it. Within days I felt a lot of short spiky hair coming through , and I've actually developed a new hairline. Still some way to go but am optimistic this is exactly what I was hoping for."Steve in UK
