Hair Restoration

The restoration of the crown is a unique challenge and if done well can be exceptionally rewarding for the patient. We are fortunate that we can reflect from nearly half a century of substandard work to have landed in a place where we can create natural looking crowns. As our understanding has improved, we have managed to understand the complexity of the angles and orientation of the crown, we are fortunate to live in an era where we can replicate these angles.

Unlike the frontal area of the scalp where the hair cascades giving the illusion of fullness in the front, one needs to understand that because the angles and orientation of the grafts in the crown flow in different directions. One needs to have reasonable expectations as to the eventual outcome might not be as dense at the front.

Attached are 2 scenarios whereby the texture of the donor hair will determine the overall outcome.

Scenario 1: This patient has the perfect texture of hair to achieve an illusion of fullness even with the use of only 4000 Hair.

Scenario 2: This patient had reasonably fine textured hair and despite using 4000 Hair, one could argue that the density still might not be perfect.
